Lindsay Hutchens is an artist and arts administrator with over eighteen years of experience dedicated to visual art production, dissemination, and education. Hutchens was recently hired as a Project Manager for the City of Austin’s Art in Public Places Program, which commissions visual artists who work across all media to create site-specific installations and unique public art that reflect the history and values of Austin’s communities. Currently, Hutchens manages 12 projects with budgets ranging from $75,000 to $829,100, totaling over $3 million. She has worked with non-profit organizations and private companies including The Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, The Art Institute of Chicago, The Contemporary Austin, Austin Center for Photography, Tarrant County College, Lomographic Corp., Palm Springs Photo Festival, and VII Photo Agency; as well as with practitioners and scholars, throughout Central Texas, Southern California, and Chicago.

Hutchens’ artist’s practice, inclusive of curation, writing and archive work, continues from her project Photographic Procreation: Present-ness and Kinship in Family Photographs. Hutchens' curiosity and production are continually drawn to the intersection of “family” and photography.

In her free time, Hutchens is also a Board Member of Headstrong Girls’ Boxing, an Austin non-profit encouraging confidence and improved mental, emotional, and physical well-being for girls ages 12-18 by providing free access to boxing training and mentorship. Sometimes she boxes for fun, goes swimming in Barton Springs regularly, and at least once a week she’s out on the dance floor two-stepping.
